Friday, May 1, 2026

Event held online via Zoom.
This CE program provides an overview of the integration of mental health assessment and intervention within medical rehabilitation settings. Participants will examine the role of psychological factors (e.g., depression, anxiety, adjustment processes, and cognitive and behavioral responses to illness or injury) in influencing rehabilitation engagement and functional outcomes (George et al., 2021; Wade & Halligan, 2017). The program introduces the application of the biopsychosocial model to rehabilitation care and reviews empirically supported approaches for identifying and addressing psychological barriers to recovery (Wade & Halligan, 2017).
Participants will gain practical skills in the use of brief, validated mental health screening tools, case conceptualization, and the implementation of targeted psychological strategies (e.g., CBT, MI) within interdisciplinary teams (Noetel et al., 2024) Through case-based examples, participants will learn how to integrate mental health considerations into treatment planning, enhance patient engagement, and collaborate effectively with rehabilitation professionals. Ethical considerations, scope of practice, and culturally responsive approaches to care will also be addressed (Dalton-Locke et al., 2021).
This program, when attended in its entirety, offers 1.5 CEs for Psychologists.
